Michelle Dockery 2014 Golden Globes – Votre Vu

Michelle Dockery 2014 Golden Globes look from Votre Vu created by celebrity makeup artist Jordan Long. “The inspiration was old Hollywood glamour, Liz Taylor, Grace Kelly, with slightly scrunched, tousled, undone hair. Michelle looks really feminine and beautiful in her Oscar de la Renta dress.

First, I prepped Michelle Dockery skin with a warm washcloth to soften the skin and get the blood circulating.  Then the used a tiny amount of Votre Vu’s Attentive Crème du Jour all over the face and neck as well as a tiny bit of the Luxee Yeux Eye Beauty Balm around the eye contour.

After prepping the skin, and applying foundation and a bit of concealer, I used a foundation brush to stipple on Vu-On Rouge in Ma Cherry. The creamy consistency is perfect to keep her skin glowing. I usually don’t like to use fingers when applying for sanitary purposes. I like using brushes because it’s like painting and I can sheer out the color and build it up as much I want to. It’s a light touch, it’s like a watercolor painting to me; build up the color until it’s just right! Using a brush or sponge on top of the foundation doesn’t move around the foundation like using fingers might.

Then I used the light dusting of the light powder on her t-zone on her cheek to set the cheek color.  I went back with a big blush brush and used the Beaute en Bronze in Monaco just on the forehead and the outside of the cheek bone.  Then went back with the Vu-On Rouge and stippled on at the apple to give a bit more color to the cheeks.

I powdered the lids, then used the dusty pink from Votre Vu’s Palette in Play in Violette on the lids up into the crease with a domed eye shadow brush and rocked it back and forth to blend it out.  Then went back in with the dark purple from the same palette and mixed the dusty pink and the purple to make a medium plum color.  I used a rocking motion to blend that in the outer corners with the same dome brush.  Then, taking a small angled eyeshadow brush, I brought the plum color underneath onto the lower lash line.

HINT: When I really want to blend in the eyelid and the crease, the rocking motion ensures that the color is blended really well.  I prefer applying in layers instead of using a lot of color all at once.

Then, using a smaller brush, I pressed the pink/purple combo closer to the lash line for a more concentrated color and to create more depth.  I applied the Le Joli Crayon in Aubergine first then went over it Le Joli Crayon in Charbon all along the upper lash line, smudged it out and went back with a smaller domed brush and used the dark purple eye shadow and concentrated it on the outer lash line and brought it up a bit and blended it.

Then with another small domed brush, I used the white shade from the Palette in Play in Copper and worked that in the inner corner of her eyes and underneath the brow.  Next, with an angled brush, lightly filled in her brows with the Arch de Triumphe in Dark Brown very lightly.  I curled her eyelashes, applied a strip and individuals to the outer corner, and then applied three coats of mascara on the upper and lower lash line.

For the lips, I prepped them by applying a bit of concealer lightly all over and then dusted a tiny bit of powder.  This neutralized everything for a nice base.  Then, I applied lip liner over the entire lip and  then went back over with French Kiss in Chloe.  I used a lip brush to apply this for extreme precision.

When you’re applying a bright lip color, I always recommend using a lip brush because you need the color to be exact.  With a neutral color, you can just apply straight from the tube since the color contrast with the skin isn’t as great. Since Michelle Dockery wearing a strapless dress, we applied Votre Vu’s Amour D’Ore multi-vitamin oil all over her décolleté and shoulders and down her arms for a subtle beautiful sheen. “ Votre Vu products are available at www.votrevu.com.
