Diamonds are among the world’s most treasured gems. The latest pieces from Gübelin Jewellery make the most of their incomparable fire.

Diamonds – symbols of eternal beauty

With a hardness of 10 on the Mohs scale, the diamond is the hardest material found in nature. This impressive hardness is even reflected in its name, derived from the Greek word “adámas”, which means “invincible”. Over the years it evolved into the English “diamond”. This unique degree of hardness has long evoked associations with permanence and eternity.

From the depths of the Earth

Diamonds were formed around one to three billion years ago in the depths of the Earth. They arose under high pressure some 150 km deep within the Earth’s crust, where temperatures reach up to 1000 degrees Celsius. The diamond is an extraordinary gemstone: made up of 99.95 percent carbon, it is the only gem that is comprised of a single element. According to historical records, the first diamonds were mined in India. Today many diamonds are found in Africa, Australia, Canada and Russia.

Deep trust

All diamonds from Gübelin Jewellery weighing more than 0.50 ct are accompanied by two gemmological reports – one from the world renowned Gübelin Gem Lab and another from the Gemological Institute of America (GIA). This means that customers can be completely certain.

For modern princesses

The princess cut is a relatively modern cut developed in the early 1980s. Its shape is reminiscent of an inverted pyramid. The rectangular shape gives the diamond a modern and unique radiance.

Timeless trios

The number three carries a deep symbolism in many cultures and is thus highly regarded throughout the world. But it is up to each individual wearer to personally relate its true significance to these jewellery pieces: the trio of diamonds can evoke especially magic moments or stand for past, present and future.
