Hollywood Hair it’s all in the consultation for great color,  how often do you say “ Oh, I’m getting my hair done today, ” when you spend some time with a true professional artist getting your hair ‘done’  takes on a new meaning. Rennie Fensham Artistic Director, Hair & Make Up Stylist of Hollywood Hair  the consultation begins the moment she walks towards you very quickly putting together an answer as to what is the next step for your hair.

An insightful consultation,  Rennie watches your facial expression, comfort of your clothes, skin tone, color of eyes, shape of face, the way you speak about yourself. The list goes on, drilling down to discover what has happened in the past with your hair, your emotions how you felt with previous cuts or color, how your hands move up to touch or lift your hair  in the areas you like and dislike.

My last really good cut and color (in my opinion) was at Sally Hershberger, Madison Avenue, New York. I was pleased with the outcome and my husband said it looked good.  After a consultation with Rennie, a color, treatment and cut, I arrived home to my husband’s comments – “You look really young with this style yes that’s it, it’s a style not a cut and that color looks good against your skin, ” he commented.  Next day,  same man “Your hair, this is the best I’ve seen it, actually its better than when you use to go to Sally Hershberger in New York!”

How did this happen? lets go back to the consultation  when you are talking  to Rennie she will suddenly stop you, and tell you which color would be good on you, how it’s going to illuminate the features you need to highlight. Rennie’s voice is steady her eyes fixed on your face, she speaks with resolve.

Rennie said that I needed some red in my hair, inside I thought “Red – really red like a pepper, or traffic light or chili red or maybe like Lucile Ball red, “ every color I had before was ‘safe,’  after all the spoken word is ‘some.’  This is the moment when a true professional has  the color chart, mixed the colors and seen the outcome all in her head.

Hollywood Hair Wella Color Touch

KOLESTON PERFECT , Rennie used a mixture of 3 shades one from each of these color streams 1) PURE NATURALS, perfect for natural looking color and shine. 2) RICH NATURALS, fashionable accents that bring that certain something extra to the hair, while retaining a natural feel. 3) DEEP BROWNS a wide range of dramatic brunette shades, elegant and lively. Asia Chu applied my color, quick and efficient, a reminder from Asia how long color is on and what would be the next step, I like that type of communication, no ignoring the client here.

After 20 minutes Asia is back with Rennie checking color discussing outcomes, off to the basin for what I thought was a rinse to remove the color. No go back to the consultation –  Rennie has mixed a toner from Well Color Touch out of 18 shades she has again selected 3 for a multifaceted, hyper-natural color.I had no idea a Toner was being applied at the basin it all seemed part of a natural flow that Asia Chu has going for himself, totally calm and in control, now we are now ready for the treatment. Every client at Hollywood Hair has the K-PAK 4 step treatment after their color, it’s part of the client experience.

Treatment experience is coming up next in Hollywood Hair Part 2 – the continuing story of Madison Avenue New York , to Hollywood Hair  23/F 1 Duddell Street Central, Hong Kong  852 2861 9830.
